Formerly, he was the Vice President of the Foundation for Middle East Peace, the Director of the US Office of B'Tselem: The Information Center for Human Rights In the Occupied territories, and the Co-Director of Jewish Voice for Peace.
In 2021, Mitchell and Marc Lamont Hill published Except for Palestine: The Limits of Progressive Politics.
